Nice Prompt! Thank you for doing this!

I filled in your silence

with poetry.

Convinced myself

You were

writing love to me.

Do you wake at dawn,

Or of’en sleep in?

Do you silently moan,

Or simply give in?

Tell me.

with deep exhale your amber light finds me

your warmth seeps into my aching bones

tender fingers knead the knots with knowing

your breath a pillow,

where my heavy head finds home.

once we dreamed of streetcleaners

who would turn our leaves into birds

but the blood no longer dreams of flying

the rain is full of holes

we’re at one with the season

that will not come

Kindling

Branches give their lives

to start a blaze, warm the night.

That's not enough.

Add newspaper, ink in fusing air

with lost words.

Throw in a pile of old photographs,

maybe frozen moments will unthaw.

True love does not shout command

Nor find its strength in cries

It takes a quiet wonder for its tone

In muted silence to admire

The naked other stripped of any lies.

the sun again,

I walk the room –

on our night table,

Glass saint’s lost halo hovering

Brazen breeze unmasks your repose

some days,

i forgive the world in silence.

not because it asked,

but because i needed the peace

more than the apology.

If I could ask the world a favor,

I’d ask for it to be gentle with me.

I’ll be anything you want me to be,

As long as you never ask,

for me to be me.

My soul whispers yes

Only silence and hope sits between us

There is no demand, no expectation

But as her hand touches mine

My soul whispers yes

What if to heal isn’t it?

What if to heal isn’t easy?

What if to heal isn’t happiness?

What if you live and heal.
